    Hey all!
I stopped eating potatoes, bread, pastas, any kind of junk food or sodas (except for fresca) about a month ago now. I wasnt following the atkins diet for the first 3 weeks but i found that all i was doing wrong for that time was that i still ate carrots and 0% yogurt and a little bit of nuts.I went on the atkins website last weekend and started doing the induction phase on sunday. Its been a week now and i dont see any difference. I count my carbs and drink lots of water, i have one coffee with 1 sweetner and homo milk. I eat 1 or 2 eggs for breakfast, half a chicken or steak for lunch or dinner with either salad (2-3 cups)and 1 tb of dressing or about 2 cups of veggies. I snack on about 10 slices of cucumber and 1 atkins day break bar and still no results. My mother in law was on the plan and she told me after a few days i should start feeling it in my clothes but nothing. Im really dissapointed and need to loose about 80 lbs.. Can anyone help me?!

Try not to get discouraged! You need to give it the full 2 weeks - sometimes 3 - I personally have found that I do not lose anything during certain times in my monthly cycle - for about a week and half before my "friend" comes I CAN NOT seem to drop a pound no matter how strict I am - but after that time frame it just vanishes, so if you are sticking to the guidelines - give it some time and as you go you will find good and not so good times during the month where your body is willing and when it is not - and it seems to be different for everyone - again, Good Luck and keep going!!

    Hi Cynthia,
You are close to being on the right track. There is no milk during induction - dairy is added much later in the program. You can use full/heavy cream in your coffee. But, cream is limited to 1-1.5 ounces per day.
It doesn't look like you are eating enough. How are you tracking? Are you using an online account like fatsecret? You should be eating apx 4-6 ounces of protein per meal. During induction - you eat 20 net carbs per day with 12-15 of those coming from veggies Depending on which veggies you are eating, I am doubtful you are reaching your 12-15 nc from veggie guideline each day.
Also - you should try spreading your veggie carbs out through the day - include some with breakfast. And, add some healthy fats as well - perhaps butter to your veggies, oil to your meat/salad etc.
Another suggestion is to weigh your food rather than using measuring cups. A food scale is much more accurate. Cups are fine but it is difficult to get an accurate count since everyone would include a different amount in their version of 1 cup of something. (packed tihgt, loose etc).
How much water are you drinking? Are you drinking anything else? Are you limiting artifical sweeteners, cheese etc? You are close to being on the right track - there may be something simple to change to get your progress started. :)
